A new portrait project by Ari Joseph.

"We're now living in a world where people can become businesses in 60 seconds." -Brian Chesky, Airbnb

Cognitive surplus. Access to resources. Libertarianism 2.0. Sharing. How is the Sharing Economy actually playing out for those on the ground? This project is an on-the-ground series of environmental portraits from those who take part in the sharing economy.

I'm seeking participants who meet at least ONE of the following criteria:

  • you have shifted to making the sharing economy your primary source of income (i.e. renting a room out on Airbnb, driving for Uber/Lyft,  etc., running errands on TaskRabbit, cleaning apartments for, etc.)
  • you have had an unusual positive or negative experience with the sharing economy
  • the sharing economy has enabled you to do something you weren't otherwise able to do
  • the sharing economy has adversely affected your ability to make a living

If you're interested, please email me or reach out via Twitter @byarijoseph.

This project is not associated with any company, product or publication. I'm interested in understanding the dynamics of the sharing economy purely as an individual artist and designer.  The end result will be an online publication and possibly a physical publication as well.
