Pop-Up Shabbat is a periodic celebration of Jewish culture welcome to everyone and anyone. Co-founder Danya Cheskis-Gold (a mensch if there ever was) was looking for some hot menus, prayer cards and drink menus, and the task was to create something memorable that served as a memento for guests.
Considering the theme of "a 90's Brooklyn Hip Hop BBQ," my mind immediately went to the hip hop mixtapes of my youth. I still remember buying bootlegs of Biggie tapes at the Fulton Mall in the mid-90's, when hip hop was at its prime in the BK.
I handscreened over 50 chipboard menus with a custom design. Many thanks to great photographer Mark Thompson for these images!
